FREE Workshop: How to prevent food waste
Create an action plan to save money and increase sustainability in your kitchen.
An ongoing challenge in the food industry is keeping your food costs down without diminishing food quality. One of the keys to success is food waste prevention. Join Chef Micah Elconin to learn strategies to reduce food waste in your kitchen, empower your employees, reduce your environmental impact, and improve your bottom line. Chef Micah leverages more than a decade of experience as a professional chef, food entrepreneur, sales manager and teacher to provide value for regional food businesses. During this interactive workshop he will share his work and help you create a Strategic Action Plan for your kitchen based on industry best practices. Considering most kitchens waste between 7 and 10 percent of the food they buy, you can't afford to miss this interactive workshop.
Who Should Attend
The workshop provides skills and resources ideal for Restaurant Managers and Chefs, Catering Sales Directors, Food & Beverage Directors – virtually anyone working in foodservice/culinary supervision or management. It is great for individuals or for teams.
Post-workshop “Train the Trainer” session
The Train the Trainer afternoon session is a complimentary 2-hour post-workshop training designed to train future workshop trainers. It is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. immediately following the workshop. It is available to local government sustainability and waste specialists, food service managers and non-profit groups working with commercial food service businesses on issues related to wasted food. Each participant will receive a copy of a facilitator’s guide that includes presentation preparation, suggested scripts, and interactive activity guides. Participants will leave the Train-the-Trainer session with the capacity to facilitate future food waste prevention workshops to a range of food service organizations. Registering for the morning workshop does not automatically register you for the Train the Trainer afternoon session. If interested in this session, please email Marie Diodati directly to register: Diodati.Marie-Helene@deq.state.or.us
